Why should you believe the doomsday 2012 predictions, those prophecies of natural disasters, manmade calamities and cosmic collisions that are flying everywhere these days, from office cooler conversations to postings all over the Internet?
You might even have noticed that many of these supposed End Time prophecies contradict one another. Just on that basis alone, they cannot all be true.
Will the Illuminati impose a New World Order dictatorship on the world in 2012? Will a meteor, comet or perhaps Planet X - also known as Nibiru - smash our earth into billions of pieces? Will global warming kill off all life - or will a new Ice Age do it? What about doomsday predictions involving the dying of the oceans, or monster earthquakes, or supervolcanoes?
Who is more likely to be correct in their picture of what the End Times will mean? The ancient Mayas with their complicated calendars and baffling codices. The Bible authors with their prophecies of wars in the heavens and a final, terrible Armageddon battle? The scientists with their dire warnings of climate catastrophes and asteroid impacts?
There's a lot to sort out in all the doomsday 2012 predictions, but I believe that it can be done. What all of the signs and prognostications are telling us is that something big is on its way for the year 2012.
That prophesied year of doom may bring any number of terrible events. It may also, as some contend, bring an ultimate transcendence for human beings, both as individuals and as a species.
The key point to take away from this is that we need to read and to study up on all of these doomsday 2012 predictions, including the work of experts who have spent years making sense of them and reconciling them where possible. A picture is emerging of a chain of cataclysms followed by a new way of life, one that many of us will be here to enjoy.
